I was asked to hold which amounted to 9 minutes, no big deal. The guy that handled my call seemed to care less about explaining what the condition of the part I was inquiring about, wouldn’t even look at the part. Also told he wouldn’t ship it because it wasn’t “insurance quality”. When I asked what insurance quality meant, he acted as though I were questioning his experience. Then told me it meant repairs more than paint were needed. He didn’t even let me finish saying thank you when he abruptly hung up. Politeness and customer service was a low priority.
Good place to find used parts for fair prices. Prices could be a little cheaper but they do offer a warranty on all the items so in the end it’s worth it. And the radiator I bought today so fast so good knock on wood lol definitely will be back to get more parts
The two stars I gave was for the price, that I was happy with. First, I called this morning and though I was given correct information the man I spoke with on the phone was very very rude!!! I asked a couple questions because I was driving 2.5 hrs to pick up the parts I needed and I needed to make sure they had exactly what I needed. So we get there and were able to go look at the vehicle because there was apparently some slight damage to the part I needed. I looked at the damage and decided I could still use the part so I went to speak with a gentlemen inside. The man that took me inside was trying his best to let me speak with someone else but the “rude” gentleman I spoke with on the phone stopped him and insisted I speak with him (I do not know his name but he was wearing a “beanie” working the front desk). We went back and forth on the price because I was willing to take the damaged part and several other parts if they would work with me because the part was damaged. He did, reluctantly & again was rude about it, but he did. We arrived at a satisfactory amount, I paid and followed the other man back out to the vehicle. I waited while they pulled the 3 parts I paid for. They set the first part on top of another car (it was a heavy part…not a good idea) I watched in horror as it fell off the other car and onto the ground completely curling one entire side of it. It is at this point unusable as a replacement part I am now going to have to transfer everything off of it onto mine and just use the original part I WAS replacing. It would have been much easier for me to just have been able to bolt on the new part! They almost set it back on top of the car when I spoke up and suggested going ahead and putting it in their parts van. They did and moved onto the next part, they took it off and while carrying it to the van hit every car on each side with it, somehow amazingly managing to not do any damage to it. The last part came out fairly easy with no incidents. On the way out I had pretty well talked myself out of going back inside and trying to get any money back for the part that was badly damaged because the man inside was again so very rude that I already knew he would argue with me about it and I more than likely not only wouldn’t have gotten any money back for the damaged part but probably would have had to end up leaving it there because it was damaged and I asked for a refund or some money back, I could just tell by speaking with him twice that is how that convo would have went! I needed the part pretty badly, obviously I drove 2.5 hrs for it! So even though I could no longer just bolt the part on I could make it work but taking EVERYTHING off of it and transferring it over to the part I already had so I didn’t want to lose the part all together. Instead I just kept my mouth shut loaded it up and went on my way. I also did not want to cause trouble for the 2 gentlemen that pulled the parts they were both as nice as they could be. The gentleman at the front counter needs to be replaced. You cant wait on customers and answer the phone for a business with an attitude like his, I know I own my own business and I wouldn’t have a man like that running my counter. He is the impression that’s left on your business, the first and last person your customers speak to, and most times the only impression your customers have on your business! He needs to be out there pulling parts and the gentleman outside need to come in and deal with the customer service!!! He was very rude, hateful and just acted like he was being bothered! I even asked him what the story was on the Baby Blue International with the car hauler outside was (the man that pulled my parts told me he thought it might be for sale) he literally asked me with a smirk “what baby blue truck?” Again acting like my question bothered him or took up his precious time! I said the “BIG BLUE 18 wheeler truck with the car hauler sitting right outside as soon as you walk in!!!” I never did get a straight answer to that question!
I see people leaving one star ratings and it makes me scratch my head. I also saw where this business also tried to reach out to those that left bad reviews. That was the deciding factor on doing business with Auto Parts of Shelby. Dean was my sales person. He was more than helpful with my query and courteous. He walked me out to the warehouse and showed me the engine I was asking about. He was very up-front about the possible damage to the internal parts (broken cam gear, possible bent valves). Dean was also very friendly and struck up several conversations during my visit. The other two guys that helped me get the engine in the car were also very friendly and courteous. I highly recommend Auto Parts of Shelby to anyone in need of used auto parts. I live about 45 minutes away and I will not hesitate to return!
