Got a great deal on a set of alloy wheels for my Volvo. Staff was always friendly and helpful. If you need a part, check Rathe’s first. You may be able to save some money.
Rathe’s Salvage at 489 Rathe Rd, Colchester, VT 05446 is a junkyard, salvage yard, scrap yard and wrecking yard that offers used auto parts. From engines to transmissions to rims and tires, Rathe’s Salvage has you covered!
This family-run business has been in operation for over 50 years, providing quality used parts for the community. All of the vehicles that come to Rathe’s Salvage are inspected and sorted into separate piles by make and model. Each part is then inspected and tested before being made available for sale. This helps ensure that customers always receive the best quality products from Rathe’s Salvage.
Rathe’s Salvage also offers a variety of services such as dismantling cars for parts or recycling junk cars. Once an old vehicle arrives at their facility it is drained of all fluids, including oil, gasoline and antifreeze. After this process the car is crushed into a cube which makes it easier to transport to a metals recycler or steel mill where it can be melted down into new materials such as steel bars or wire mesh.
In addition to offering recycled auto parts and car dismantling services, Rathe’s Salvage also operates a retail store onsite that sells tools and other automotive supplies like filters, spark plugs, batteries etc. They even have a selection of specialty items like vintage hubcaps or windshield wipers!
For those who want to save money without sacrificing quality when they need auto parts, Rathe’s Salvage is the perfect solution. With over five decades of experience in salvaging used auto parts you can trust them to provide you with quality products at an affordable price every time!

Great bunch of people working there always helpful and nice to be around. Nice job everyone! Always feel welcomed.
No point in going if you want to pick your part for a decent deal. You can get alternators, starters, etc from LKQ online for almost half of what Rathes charges. They used to be like Costco for me. Go for a couple items but end up getting 10 things, which in turn, makes them more money. 2 stars since I think you’re still allowed to drop off your own scrap metal.
I’ve used Rathes Salvage for over 10 years to get parts that are normally over priced. I’ve been here with friends that need rear ends for a pick up or I e even been there to get a wiper motor or even a rear door for my Jeep. Anything you want they normally have it. If your mechanically inclined you can just about grab any part you want. The employees are straight up honest and so are the prices. The cars will get crushed regardless so why not make a little money from the parts they do sell. Bring your tools because you will always find what you need at Rathes I’ve been here in the dead of winter or the middle of summer and never once been questioned about what I was doing. You just show up and tell them you want to see what parts you can find and you explore the acres of vehicles and guaranteed you will always find something you can use. I would recommend this place to everyone and anyone with common sense and tools if you want to save a ton of money. I actually need to go here soon to save myself hundreds of dollars on leaf springs. Everything is a deal.
Reviews make this place look bad because the people writing them are the same ones who can’t make their own coffee and are completely reliant on others. They can’t bother to drive down and figure it out, they call and want everything done for them. They’d go to the dealer and get sorted but they don’t have the money. Machines and cameras take over because people rely on them. You have to go out and do it yourself, or you’ll be having amazon package airdrop while you sit in front of a screen watching it bring you your eggs. Rathe’s is a playground. Go play
